Heart to Heart Hospice Announces Future Reopening of the Former Charlier Hospice Center in Evansville, Indiana

Heart to Heart Hospice will relocate its Evansville program to the facility; plans to reopen the Hospice Inpatient Center

Plano, Texas – Heart to Heart Hospice, a leader in hospice services since 2003, has announced the future reopening of the former Charlier Hospice Center in Evansville, Ind., and is in the process of relocating its hospice home care program to the site at 610 E. Walnut Street in Evansville. In addition, Heart to Heart plans to reopen the Hospice Inpatient Center later this year as an extension of its current service offering within the Evansville community. Heart to Heart Hospice, which has served the local community for over five years, has outgrown its current space, according to Kelly Mitchell, Founder and Chief Executive Officer. “We are excited to be able to expand our outreach in Evansville to a facility that was so well-loved within the community,” he said.

“Relocating our home care team and introducing our Hospice Inpatient Center is a major decision for us and one that we take with the utmost respect,” said Mitchell. “We understand the deep personal connection the community had with The John and Betty Charlier Hospice Center and we are committed to preserving their legacy and that of so many community donors.” The Heart to Heart Hospice Inpatient Center has seven beautifully appointed private suites that open out to a peaceful garden area. Each room will have its own decor, private bathroom, TV, sitting area for family, and accommodations for one overnight guest. The common areas include a family room, quiet room, children’s playroom, and a full kitchen and dining area for friends and family members to gather.

A tentative Open House is scheduled for October, with details to be announced soon. Gloria Horton, Executive Director, and the Board of Directors of Visiting Nurse Association of Southwestern Indiana, Inc., have been advocates of inpatient hospice care since the inception of this facility over 20 years ago. “On behalf of the Board of Directors, we are very excited about the reopening of the hospice center and we welcome the energy and expertise of the Heart to Heart Hospice team. We are forever grateful to the Charlier family for this magnificent gift to the community, which has stood the test of time,” said Mrs. Horton.
