Heart to Heart Hospice Foundation Partners with University of North Texas
Plano, TX – The Heart to Heart Hospice Foundation, a 501(c) (3) non-profit public charity that provides financial support for patients nearing end of life, their families, and the greater community through various charitable programs, has partnered with the University of North Texas to provide educational opportunities in the fields of gerontology and end-of-life care.
In keeping with its mission of improving quality of life for geriatric patients and those nearing end of life, the Heart to Heart Hospice Foundation has endowed a $25,000 scholarship for a University of North Texas undergraduate student studying gerontology or end-of-life care. The organization will also provide financial support for two end-of-life care community educationprograms offered through UNT’s College of Public Affairs & Community Service, and five professional internships with aging-related government, non-profit or private organizations.

This partnership with UNT is a continuation of Heart to Heart Hospice Foundation’s abundant benevolence to the community. In 2015, the Foundation provided 80 grants to patients or their families totaling more than $72,000. The Foundation recently endowed a $25,000 undergraduate palliative studies scholarship at Madonna University in Livonia, MI, plus an annual, renewable scholarship for a Masters or PhD student. The Foundation will also partner with the University of Southern California for multicultural palliative care research to develop an evidence-based series of palliative care resources. This year, the Foundation is poised to provide nearly $250,000 in scholarships; Alzheimer’s, veteran and cancer support; ongoing patient and family need grants; and end of life education to the community.
